An interesting vehicle built by the Italian company Scam for Iveco as the basis of an expedition support vehicle. Iveco had the company V.A.S., an Italian camper van manufacturer, to hand build a G.P.R camper box to very high standards of insulation i.e. 100mm of P.U. all round to withstand very low temperatures. Another specialist Italian company Oltre further winterised the fuel system and added two diesel heaters to the cab and cabin. In early 2009 this Daily and another with 4 Iveco massif [land rover size] were flown to Russia and went on a 3 month expedition to Siberia, the Urals and North to Norway [videos of this expedition can be seen on the internet at “Oltre in Siberia – 40” and “Oltre 2008”] showing just how capable these vehicles are. The camper was then taken back to Italy and used by Iveco in P.R. use around Europe to publicise Ivecos involvement Dakar rally in Africa and South America. It was then laid up at Ivecos storage in Turin and from there bought by the previous owner, who had it further converted to have toilet and shower, kitchen etc.

The camper is now quite self-contained and has on board hot and cold water, two fresh water tanks, grey and black water collection tanks, PV electric system, two 12 volt solar batteries, 240 volt and PV chargers, 600-watt inverter, LED lighting inside and out. The kitchen area has a three burner hob, sink and fridge with extractor fan. The toilet and shower have pressurised water system throughout with extractor fan skylight. All the electric systems have been checked and are in good working order.

I have had the mechanicals thoroughly checked and where necessary overhauled by our very experienced lorry mechanic, all the oils and filters changed, all other fluids changed, and underside of camper box re-under sealed; the vehicle has passed a new Ministry Of Transport HGV Test. Currently, the vehicle is not registered and if it was bought by somebody living in Europe we could deliver the vehicle to the docks at Dover. The vehicle is in good order throughout ready to go with a new set of Michelin tyres and has currently recorded 40,000 kilometres [25,000 miles]. Drives well and is very capable off road with low range, split range gearbox, electronic diffs on axles and transfer box, is fitted with reversing camera, immobiliser and alarm and has a heavy duty Warn winch tinch on, winch off spare wheel carrier to the back with a load platform. The GRP camper box needs a coat of paint, other than this its ready to go.
